摘要
This chapter provides an overview of energy policies and standards that are designed to promote sustainable energy use and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The chapter begins by defining energy policy and the different types of policies that exist, including renewable energy standards, energy efficiency standards, and carbon pricing. It then discusses the role of government in setting energy policy and the challenges that policymakers face in balancing competing priorities. The chapter also covers the different types of energy standards that are in place, such as building codes, appliance standards, and fuel efficiency standards for vehicles. It highlights the benefits of these standards, including cost savings for consumers and reductions in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, the chapter explores the challenges associated with implementing and enforcing energy standards, such as compliance and monitoring issues. Finally, the chapter looks at the role of international agreements and organizations in setting energy policies and standards. It discusses the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, as well as the work of organizations such as the International Energy Agency and the World Energy Council. The chapter concludes by emphasizing the importance of energy policies and standards in promoting sustainable energy use and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
