OBJECTIVE To investigate the pharmacokinetic behavior of Panax notoginseng saponions ( PNS) and determine concentrations of ginsenoside Rb1,ginsenoside Rg1 and sanchinoside R1 in plasma after iv and ig of PNS solution.Effect of borneol and verapamil on the pharmacokinetic behavior was also investigated.METHODS Wistar rats were chosen as experimental animal and were separated stochastically into 2 groups,and received PNS by oral administration or intravenous injection.RESULTS It showed that two-compartment model could describ the pharmacokinetic behavior of Rb1,Rg1 and R1,compared with iv administration,and the relative bioavailability is only 2.47% ,3.58% ,3.25%.Borneol and verapamil could affect the pharmacokinetic behavior of 3 main ingredients.Borneol could augment the absorption rate constant ( Ka) of Rb1,Rg1 and R1,and increase their Cmax.Verapamil could augment the absorption rate constant ( Ka) of Rb1 and Rg1,and decrease their elimination rate constant ( β) ,but it can not affect R1.Meanwhile,all the two substances can increase the AUC and relative bioavailability of PNS.CONCLUSION The pharmacokinetic behavior of PNS is very complicated and many factors can affect the process.
