Preparation and characterization of TiB_2 coatings curing at ambient temperature for aluminum electrolysis

The TiB2 coatings curing at ambient temperature for aluminum electrolysis were prepared using TiB2,carbon powder,furan resin and carbon fiber as the main raw materials.The thermal degradation characteristics of each component of product coatings were analyzed by DTG.The carbonization process of coating pastes was investigated by DTG-DDTA and the carbonization heating program was established.The compositions of coatings were analyzed by XRD and the morphology of the coating cross section was observed by SEM.The results showed that the furan resin had three weight loss stages and the carbon powder had only one in the carbonization process.The TiO2 and C were the main components of the coating surface and the TiB2 and C were the inner components.The coatings had no cracks and bubble holes and had good adhesion between each phases.The structure of the coatings was dense.
