Diluted and concentrated sulfuric acid-hydrolysis of poplar chips was investigated. As diluted sulfuric acid-hydrolysis, the temperature of the hydrolysis is 200℃, the concentration of sulfuric acid is 2.5%. The best yield of sugar is 64.5% with these reaction conditions. The optimized condition of concentrated sulfuric acid-hydrolysis that concentration is 70%, temperature is 60℃. The best yield of sugar is 96.4% with these optimized reaction conditions. Sulfuric acid-hydrolysis of poplar chips is investigated with the little weight ratio of pure acid to dry wood chips. Study the effect of temperature, hydrolysis time and the second hydrolysis time on the yield of sugar. The results show that the best yield of sugar is 61.9% with the optimized conditions which the temperature is 95℃, the hydrolysis time is 0.5 h and the second hydrolysis time is 2 h. This method can gain better effect with little weight ratio of pure acid to dry wood chips and mild conditions by contrast with hydrolysis of diluted and concentrated sulfuric acid-hydrolysis.
