Based on a typical power system topology, the influences of generator model selections on the voltage stability analysis are presented in this paper.Dynamic nonlinear bifurcation theory and software package AUTO97 are used in the study.Five types of generator models are considered and their corresponding voltage bifurcation results are obtained by varying the input power to the generator.Detailed numerical simulation results show that even under the same power system circuit and load conditions, the power system voltage undergoes different bifurcation phenomena in both the characteristics and magnitudes. However, all the bifurcation diagrams show that Hopf bifurcation point appears before the SNB(Saddle-node Bifurcation) point, which reveals the principal reason for voltage instability of the power system.
