Analysis and discussion on the recent applications of CVD diamond

The development of industrial diamond from the natural diamond to HPHT diamond to CVD diamond was outlined.The mechanical properties and electronic properties of polycrystalline CVD diamond and that of single crystal CVD diamond were compared and analysed.The recent applications of polycrystalline and single crystal CVD diamond,including applications in composite materials,medicine,electrochemistry,themal management,microelectromechanical system(MEMS),optics,electronics and acoustics were discussed.The characteristics of ultrananocrystalline diamond(UNCD) and its unique applications in MEMS,biosensors,mechanical seals and wear-resistant coatings,as well as ultrasmoothness diamond film were described and discussed.
