Effect of Firing Temperature and Soaking Time on Mollitization of Andalusite Based Refractory

Temperature and soaking time on mullitization of andalusite were studied by analyzing the XRD data.The results show that when firing temperature increased the amount of mollite increased and residue andalusite decreased linearly.The solution of alumina took place mainly at the temperature below 1400℃.Secondary mullitizatioin took place mainly at the temperature higher than 1500℃.When fired at 1600℃ the amount of mullite increased most rapidly within 3 hours.Secondary mullitization droped behind Primary mullitization and solution of corundum.
