Chemical or electrochemical oxidative polymerization of aniline in the acid me- dium has been studied. The by-products formed in the aniline polymerization are separated and characterized by IR, ~(13)C-NMR and elemental analysis. The results show that main by- products are 2,5-dianilino-p-benzoquinone (DAPBQ)and its derivatives, and the amount of by-products is increased with the increase the concentration of oxidant. Based on the polymerization behaviour and structral analysis, a possible forming progress is proposed.
