摘要
With the aggravation of the energy crisis, large-scale use of hydrogen energy is gradually becoming one of the promising ways to tackle the energy crisis. Among many hydrogen production methods, photoelectrochemical water splitting is a method with great industrial prospects, due to its low cost, wide source of raw materials, green and low carbon, etc. This chapter introduces the mechanism of photoelectrochemical water splitting in detail, focusing on the semiconductor materials suitable for photoelectrochemical water splitting and the strategies to improve the performance of photoelectrochemical water splitting; the existing problems in the development of photoelectrochemical water splitting are pointed out. Finally, based on the characteristics and current development status of photoelectrochemical water splitting, the future development of photoelectrochemical water splitting is prospected.
