De novo myeloid sarcoma of the oral cavity in early adolescence: an uncommon presentation with severe congenital neutropenia

Severe congenital neutropenia (SCN) is a rare disorder characterised by a persistent decrease in circulating leukocytes leading to recurrent life-threatening bacterial and fungal infections. SCN patients also carry an inherent risk of developing malignancies and myelodysplastic transformations, which can be attributed to increased clonal haematopoiesis. Though the incidence of acute myeloid leukaemia in SCN patients is well documented in literature, the occurrence of extramedullary lesions like myeloid sarcoma is an uncommon event. Here we present a comprehensive case report of a female in early adolescence with SCN presenting with myeloid sarcoma of the mandible.
