Synthesis, Structure, and Reductive Elimination Reactions of the First (σ-Aryl)palladium Complex Stabilized by IPr N-Heterocyclic Carbene

The first (σ-aryl)palladium complex stabilized with one IPr N-heterocyclic carbene and one PPh 3 ligand has been synthesized via a novel method, structurally characterized, and found to undergo remarkably facile C−C reductive elimination of the 2-phenylimidazolium cation via phosphine predissociation.
