Eucalyptus belongs to the myrtaceae large family, which is commonly found in the countries of South Pacific Ocean, North and Indian Ocean. It has been brought to North and South Africa, Southern Europe, and Asia as it flourishes in a wide range of soils and temperatures. China, Brazil, South Africa, Indonesia, and Congo cultivate interspecific hybrids, and smaller farms in the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand, as well as South America (Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay). It has been estimated that the 700 variable species are found all over the globally and approximately 1% of them are utilized for commercial gain. Further, eucalyptus wood is currently used as a many purpose such as, energy source, shelterbelt, and spelled wood fibers, among other things. These oils are an essential oils made from the oval-shaped leaves of eucalyptus trees. Crushing, drying, and distillation steps are used to extract the oils. Essential oils are produced from more than a dozen different types of eucalyptus trees, each with a unique combination of natural ingredients and medicinal properties. “The essential oils have a wide range of health benefits, such as decongestant, antispasmodic, antiinflammatory, antiseptic, antimicrobial, antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.” Eucalyptus oils are most commonly recognized for its woodsy-sweet fragrance. It is also claimed to offer a number of health benefits, ranging from alleviating brain fog to purifying the air in your home. As a result, eucalyptus oils can be found in a variety of products, ranging from ointments and mouthwashes to supplements and household cleaners. Although, a component called eucalyptol (a.k.a. cineole) is responsible for the evergreen fragrance of eucalyptus oils and its many therapeutic benefits, eucalyptus oils are filled with several natural chemicals that act in synergy to create a range of health-promoting effects.
