3‐Methoxypropen‐2‐yl formate, a selective reagent for the formylation of alcohols or phenols

Abstract An improved synthesis is given for the selectively amino formylating reagent, 3‐methoxypropen‐2‐yl formate. The compound can also be used for selective formylation of either alcohols or phenols by using an acid or tertiary amine as a catalyst.
