Based on the analysis of spacing and timing resources of intersection imported road, an optimization model named lane assignment and signal timing is established, the objective function of which is minimum delay of signalized intersection. Visual Basic is used to write program to solve the model. Then, the author chooses the typical intersection of Hohhot as an example and simulates the current situation of the intersection in order to analyze the existing traffic problem. The optimization result is calculated with the traffic flow of the crossing road using the LDSD program. At last, the optimization plan and output, the results of intersection performance evaluation, are simulated. Comparing the evaluation of current situation and the optimization, the spacing and timing resources of intersection can be reasonably reallocated, and the average delay of intersection represent a reduction of 43%, which shows the model built up is practicable.
