A 56-year-old man presented with bilateral swollen knees and associated arthralgia. The right knee had been swollen for six years whilst the left knee had only been swollen for four months. His background was that he worked as a sailor and reported a history of multiple unprotected sexual encounters and had been treated intermittently in the hospitals.
