This study was conducted to elucidate effective method on drying flower. The conventional preparation with silica-gel requires lengthy time for the desiccation. Recently, application of microwave on silica-gel treatment has been used for rapid drying. The present tests were attempted to compare the effects of silica-gel alone, microwave with silica~gel, and natural drying. There seemed to be no practical differences in extents of the desiccation among various drying methods. However, there were differences in drying period; silica-gel alone required more than a week at the room temperature, while microwave with silica-gel treatment takes only two to five minutes. It was found that those flowers with more silicon dioxide (SiO₂) content dried faster. The opposite was true for those with less silicon dioxide content.
