In this study tilt mechanism of an office chair whose seat-backrest pivot joint coincides with the hip joint center of the user(Type-A) was suggested and examined in terms of the Center of Pressure(COP) and the Lumbar lordosis during backrest recline. The comparison tilt mechanism(Type-B) of a best-selling chair whose seat-backrest pivot joint located in the under seat pan was examined also. The experiments for the two types of chair were performed in 9 subjects. The COP deviation and the Lumbar lordosis reduction were observed greatly in type-B. The results show Type-A model supports the lumbar region more efficiently and consistently during the backrest recline.
