In order to achieve the highly effective gas-phase selective oxidation of alcohols, the gold catalyst was prepared using Mn3O4-modified SiO2as support. The results show that benzyl alcohol conversion and benzaldehyde selectivity were enhanced over the modified catalyst. At 250 ℃,benzyl alcohol conversion of 96% and benzaldehyde selectivity of 98% could be achieved. The catalysts were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction( XRD) and transmission electron microscope( TEM),and the results show that the Mn3O4was dispersed in the form of monolayer. The modified catalyst exhibited excellent performance for the selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol, which was attributable to the AuMn3O4interaction.
