Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) was first described by Rabi [1], leading to a Nobel Prize in 1944 and was subsequently demonstrated in liquids and solids by Bloch [2] and Purcell [3], leading to a further Nobel Prize in 1952.In the form of NMR spectroscopy, it is a powerful analytical technique with the ability to provide information on the physical, chemical and electronic properties of molecules by measuring, via radio frequency excitation, the energy associated with the splitting of energy levels when a nucleus with net spin is placed in a static magnetic field [4].
