Concurrent energy storage and decarbonization by metal–CO 2 batteries: aqueous or non-aqueous?

Metal–CO 2 batteries present an advanced energy storage system with the added advantage of CO 2 utilization/conversion. This review summarizes electrolyte engineering strategies in metal–CO 2 batteries to gain insights into their real-time application.
