Patient-specific prediction of regional lung mechanics in patients with ARDS with physics-based models: a validation study

This study presents the first systematic validation of physics-based, patient-specific computational lung models for mechanically ventilated patients. By comparing model-predicted regional ventilation with bedside electrical impedance tomography, we demonstrate the ability of our computational approach to predict regional lung mechanics and patient-specific phenomena. Embedded within a computational pipeline fast enough for clinical workflows, this marks a significant step toward truly personalized, model-informed ventilation management in the ICU.
