Narcistička grandioznost i vulnerabilnost te samopoštovanje kao prediktori učestalosti fotografiranja i objavljivanja selfie fotografija na društvenim mrežama
Selfie phenomenon is new and relatively unexplored research area, so the aim of this study was to examine the prediction of frequency of taking and publishing selfies on social networking sites based on grandiose narcissism, vulnerable narcissism and self-esteem. This research was conducted among 314 female students from different universities in Zagreb, Croatia. One part of the data was collected during regularly-scheduled classes of one humanistic university in Zagreb and second part was collected via online inventory. We used Selfie questionnaire constructed for purposes of this study, Pathological Narcissism Inventory and Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale. Vulnerable narcissism predicted frequency of taking selfies and grandiose narcissism predicted the frequency of its publishing on social networking sites. In predicting frequency of publishing specific types of selfies, only vulnerable narcissism has shown to be significant in predicting duckface and work-out selfies. Grandiose narcissists found important that their selfies reflects theirs competences, while for vulnerable narcissist its’s important that their selfies reflects their physical appearance. Vulnerable narcissism predicted the importance for selfies to display happy and hedonistic way of one’s life, while self-esteem turned out to be suppressor variable. Vulnerable narcissism predicted the importance of receiving likes and comments on one’s published selfies.
