It was well-known that the disadvantages of the classical Z-source inverters are of low voltage gain and high-input current flowing through their components. For this reason, this paper presented the study of switched-inductor quasi-Z-source inverter topology based on multi-cascaded. The proposed inverter topology was derived from the old quasi-Z-source inverters by using cascaded multi switched-inductor cell to replace the input side inductor, which provided high boost voltage to avoid the problem occurred in the classical topology of quasi-Z-source inverters because of the inrush current at start-up. At the same time,it took the advantage of the simple boost as the simple control in this inverter. Based on the theoretical analysis, the simulated results demonstrated the new features of the proposed topology.
