Olfactory vulnerability in older adults undergoing endoscopic skull base surgery: insights from olfactory strip elevation.

Patients aged ≥50 years showed greater postoperative olfactory decline after EEA with olfactory strip elevation. Increasing age was associated with reduced levels of key olfactory cells. Higher S100 expression was associated with better postoperative olfactory outcomes.
