One-Pot Synthesis of 1,4-(Phosphonyl)[60]fullerenol via a DBU-Promoted, Multicomponent Domino Reaction of H-Phosphonates, C 60 , and HBr/DMSO

A DBU-promoted, multicomponent domino reaction involving H-phosphonates, C₆₀, and HBr/DMSO has been developed for the efficient one-pot synthesis of 1,4-(phosphonyl)[60]fullerenols. Investigations into the coordination reactions of these 1,4-phosphorylated fullerenols with Pt(PPh₃)₄ have facilitated the synthesis of two distinct types of 1,4-diorgano[60]fullerene platinum complexes. Furthermore, control experiments revealed the unique reactivity of 1,2-(phosphonyl)(hydro)[60]fullerene with HBr/DMSO.
