Standard Deviation of Fatigue Damage

A standard deviation (sD) can be applied to mean damage that is obtained when the peak distribution of the response can be represented analytically. In this chapter, the standard deviation of damage is calculated by using J.S.Bendat's method and W.D. Mark's method. The chapter then focuses on Comparison of Mark and Bendat's results. From expression of the standard deviation given by Mark for a narrowband noise, F.B. Sun calculates the standard deviation of the lifetime. F.B. Sun uses the correction proposed by Wirsching and Light to evaluate the damage created by a wideband, Finally, the chapter focuses on the statistical S-N curves.
