Narration and ideology

Writers create fiction with language and narrative techniques. The former has been viewed as a carrier of ideology; the latter, once employed in a particular piece of work, reflects the writer s knowledge about and attitudes towards the objective world. It is for this reason that attention should be paid to the ideological attributes of both the content and the forms of narration in analyzing a narrative work. The view that narrative techniques are purely technical and therefore have nothing to do with ideology is innocent and groundless.
