The extraction of C-phycocyanin from Spirulina using aqueous two-phase system composed of PEG and ammonium sulfate

The technology of extracting C-phycocyanin from Spirulina by using a aqueous two-phase system composed of PEG and ammonium sulfate was studied in this paper.The results showed that the optimum conditions of extraction were 10 percent of PEG2000 and 20 percent of(NH 4) 2 SO 4.The total extraction rate of C-phycocyanin was reached to 96.1 percent and the purity of C-phycocyanin was as high as 1.2.
