Traditional adaptive beamformer suffers performance degradation in the presence of mismatches between the actual and presumed array steering vectors of the desired signal.A novel approach to adaptive beamformer is proposed, which emphasizes the robustness to the system errors. The beamformer is accomplished by two steps, estimating the actual steering vector firstly, and computing the optimal weight by utilizing the estimated steering vector.Simple closed-form solution to this robust beamformer problem is obtained by using Lagrange approach.Since the proposed method doesn't belong to the class of diagonal loading,it overcomes the uncertainty in determining the optimal loading level. Finally, computer simulation results demonstrate its validity and superiority to the methods available.
