摘要
Representing green chemistry principles, deep eutectic solvents (DESs) and natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs) have been considered as potential alternatives to conventional organic solvents and ionic liquids (ILs), to be foreseen as next-generation solvents with a broad range of applications such as electrochemistry, extraction, biocatalysis, and biomedical applications. This chapter reviews what is currently known about their toxicity and biodegradability and the possible mechanisms involved.
