The article is devoted to the analysis of the structure and properties of fiber composites with an epoxy matrix. The issues of the formation of interphase layers, including those containing a skin layer made of polymer fibers, methods of their measurement and modification of the interfacial layer (coating, nanoparticle coating, grafting) are discussed. Mechanical properties are analyzed in detail, including the interfacial effect and the role of the matrix (the formation of a microphase structure during the curing of the matrix, the effect of the microphase structure on the mechanical properties of the cured matrix and application of nanoparticles). Thermal and tribological properties of composites are considered. It is proposed to use nanoparticles to modify the structure and properties of fiber composites. The problems and prospects for the development of research on fiber composites with an epoxy matrix are underlined.
