摘要
Most technical professionals complete their education prepared to be individual contributors. They are prepared initially to do their work in relative isolation, to seek the right answers to the questions and problems provided to them, and to be judged and promoted on their relative individual merit. The beliefs, traits, skills, behaviors, knowledge, and abilities that they learn in college are indeed their strengths. This chapter deals with the 15 most common career-damaging traits and behaviors and their associated beliefs. The author calls these 15 beliefs as 15 limiting beliefs. The reason they are classified as limiting is that although people begins their careers thinking that they will ensure success, they often become career-limiting beliefs rather than success-oriented beliefs. If these 15 limiting beliefs can be modified by the application of the corresponding 15 Gems of Wisdom they can generate behaviors, that will ensure a successful long-term career.
