Propylthiouracil-associated Antineutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibody-positive Vasculitis:a Case Report and Review of Literature

Objective:To enhance the importance of antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-positive vasculitis induced by propylthiouracil(PTU).Methods:By reporting a case of antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-positive vasculitis induced by PTU.Related literature was reviewed and discussion was made.Results:The patient presented with hematuria,proteinuria,renal function damage,injury of lung,positive antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody.She had been treated with PTU for 36 months because of Graves disease.The PTU was withdrawn,and prednisone was used with a dose of 1 mg/Kg·d,po.After the treatment,the symptoms changed for the better,and the renal function returned.Conclusion:PTU may induce antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-positive vasculitis.Early diagnosis,withdraw of PTU and administration of glucocortocoid can improve its prognosis.
