Well-aligned crystalline ZnO nanorod arrays were fabricated via an aqueous solution route with zinc nitrate and ammonia as precursors.ZnO seed layers on glass substrates were firstly formed by dip-coating and heat treatment for subsequent epitaxial growth of ZnO nanorods.Morphologies and structures of ZnO nanocrystals were characterized by SEM,TEM,SAED and XRD.The growth mechanism of ZnO nanorod and its effect on rod morphology are discussed.ZnO nanotubes and nanorods with blanket-like surface were produced via in-situ secondary pH adjustment of solutions. The formation of nanotubes and nanorods with blanket-like surface are explained in terms of the growth mechanism. The results show that multiform ZnO nanocrystals are all hexagonal wurtzite structure preferentially oriented in c-axis direction.
