Preparation and quality control of Shaotangshang gelatin

Objective To prepare Shaotangshang gelatin and establish a method for its quality control. Methods Shaotangshang gelatin was prepared with 1.5% Carbom 940 as gelatin substrate, and trithanola mine as neutralizer. The content of berberine hydrochloride was determined by HPLC. The stability was observed and skin stimulating test was performed. Results The linear range of berberine hydrochloride content was 26.64- 133.20 μg/mL, r=0.9997, the average recovery rate was 96.77% and RSD was 1.6%. Shaotangshang gelatin had good stability and had no stimulation to skin. Conclusion The preparation procedure of Shaotangshang gelatin is simple, the gelatin is stable, and its quality is controllable. Shaotangshang gelatin is suitable for hospital use.
