Oxidation of Benzaldehyde to Benzoic Acid with H_2O_2

Benzaldehyde can be directly oxidized to benzoic acid with 30%H2O2 in the presence of transition metal ion without any phase transfer catalyst and organic solvent.The optimum molar ratio of benzaldehyde,Na2CO3,transition metal ion,H2O2 was 100∶3∶0.5∶196.The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1h giving benzoic acid in yield of 84.2%.
