A multiple-input and multiple-output indoor wireless optical communication system is developed for high data rate communications. The realized system has 1 080 Mbit/s data rates with eight channels and fixed-length digital pulse interval modulation(FDPIM).The FDPIM does not need symbol synchronization and has fixed symbol length,so it can simplify the receiver and solve the problems of modulator waiting or buffer overflow in comparison with PPM and DPIM respectively. The symbolic structure, bandwidth, error rate and other characteristics of FDPIM system are analysed. The simulation results show the system is more suitable for low cost and high data rate wireless communications.
