Based on critical examination of herbarium specimens (including type material) and careful observations on living plants, we demonstrate that Dehaasia kwangtungensis (Lauraceae), described from northern Guangdong province, southern China, differs from other Dehaasia species markedly by its pale brown (vs. glossy white) branchlets and terminal buds with many orbicular or suborbicular, tiered (vs. few, acute, and not tiered) scales, but is conspecific with Camphora parthenoxylon, a species mainly distributed in South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Asia. We therefore reduce D. kwangtungensis to the synonymy of C. parthenoxylon herein.
