Conventional plasma spraying systems are difficult to operate less than a few kW at atmospheric pressure condition and fabricate coating on low-melting-point substrate. Atmospheric microwave discharge easily generates high temperature plasma at a microwave power of not more than 1kW. Thus, the atmospheric pressure microwave plasma was applied to low power atmospheric pressure plasma spraying. The atmospheric pressure microwave plasma spraying was successfully fabricated ceramic coatings below 1kW of microwave power.
