Causes, preventive measures and therapeutic aspects in management of permanent teeth ankylosis

The prognosis of permanent teeth ankylosis might be better than it is generally believed. This is a case report of an efficient surgical avulsion of ankylosed tooth associated with application of orthodontic elastic traction. The ankylosed tooth, occlusion and alveolar restoration can be preserved by an energetic therapeutic procedure. The outcome may be disputable, but considering poor prognosis of the ankylosed tooth, it is a better therapeutic choice than facing possible consequences of usual therapeutic procedures or no treatment whatsoever.
