Plant Cell Walls

Abstract The cell wall, as the outer coat of a plant cell, controls cell expansion, gives plant cells their characteristic shapes, and provides protection. Cellulose is only one of many polysaccharides and other polymers of the higher plant cell wall; some of these polymers undergo chemical reactions in the walls of living cells.
