Effect of three elicitors on inducible formation of 2-(2-phenylethyl) chromones in cell suspension cultures from root of Aquilaria sinensis

AIM To research the effect of salicylic acid,methyl jasmonate and yeast on inducible formation of chromones in cell suspension cultures prepared from root of Aquilaria sinensis.METHODS The cell suspension cultures were treated with salicylic acid,methyl jasmonate and yeast,respectively.Then the rate cell growth and the contents of 2-(2-phenylethyl) chromones were determined.RESULTS Low concentrations of salicylic acid and methyl jasmonate could induce the synthesis of 2-(2-phenylethyl) chromones and methyl jasmonate had better effect.But yeast had a little effect.All three elicitors inhibited the growth of cell from Aquilaria sinensis.CONCLUSION Salicylic acid and methyl jasmonate could induce the production of characteristic components of agarwood in Aquilaria sinensis.
