Regional Test of Five Panicum maximum Varieties in South Fujian Area

The experiment was conducted to study 5 introduced Panicum maximum varieties in South Fujian area for 2 years.The results showed that all the varieties grew normally in this region,especially two varieties of No.8 and No.9 had good characters in general,their annual yield of green forage were remarkably higher than the control,and their contents of crude protein were a little higher than the control.So these two varieties of Panicum maximum were good forage for grazing and maintaining water and soil,they were suggested to plant widely in the region.
