Metaphor Analysis and Language Teaching

This paper first gives a brief introduction of cognitive metaphor theory,and then distinguishes some terms related to conceptual metaphor.Based on the metaphor analysis of a poem written by Emily Dickinson,the author tries to explore the way conceptual metaphor is realized in discourse and the way discourse is structured in terms of conceptual metaphor.Finally the paper points out implications of conceptual metaphor for language teaching.
