Lightweight Design of a Minibus Body Based on Stiffness and Modal Analysis

In this paper,the finite element model of the BIW(body in white)of a minibus is established with software Nastran,stiffness and modal analysis are made to this model.It is concluded by comparing and analyzing the calculated results before and after lightweight design that body stiffness and modal after lightweight design lie in the acceptable range,the objective of reducing body mass is achieved.The test verification indicates that finite element analysis results after lightweight design are consistent with real test results.
