Measurement of acceleration by voltage sensor and solenoid coil

Abstract We enhanced the technique in physics labs by using a voltage sensor to measure the acceleration of a small magnet that was freely falling into the coil wire. We analyzed the magnet’s mechanical energy conservation. The experiments we conducted in this work yielded a free fall acceleration of g = 9.773–0.02 m s −2 , which is 0.26% less than the accepted value of 9.7987 m s −2 .
