Postharvest application of 1-methylciclopropene on tuberose cut flowers (Polianthes tuberosa L.) G. A. Pérez-Arias, I. Alia-Tejacal, +2 authors J. E. Álvarez-Vargas Published 2015 Agricultural and Food Sciences (Polianthes tuberose L.) spikes were harvested with four open flowers and stored in a pulse solution (20%) plus a solution of 140, 280, 420 or 560 mg L -1 of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) using Ethylblock® sachets (each sachet included 0.014% of active ingredient) for 24 hours. Results showed that the open flowers and their appearance were less affected by 1-MCP application. The water uptake and the relative weight were increased by the pulse solution application, while 1-MCP had no effect. Hue and lightness increased during the vase life of the tuberose, but its chromaticity decreased. |
