Italian journal of gynaecology and obstetrics 5(3): 103–106. Objective: We evaluated the possibility that clomiphene citrate resistance in women with polycystic ovary syndrome might be related to altered glucose metabolism. Methods: Ten women showing constant resistance (no ovulation) to 1250 mg of clomiphene citrate, repeated at least three times in a 1-year period, underwent an insulin and glucose metabolism study by oral glucose tolerance test. Results: No association was found between resistance to clomiphene citrate and altered glucose metabolism whereas the latter was related to body weight. Conclusion: Resistance to clomiphene citrate is not associated with the presence of altered glucose metabolism. |
