The objective of the following investigation is the application of the dynamic subgrid scale (DSGS) closure model using the large eddy simulation (LES) turbulence prediction method in a complex flow simulation, and the comparison of this to LES results obtained using Smagorinsky`s subgrid scale (SGS) eddy viscosity model and available experimental data. In LES, large flow structures are computed, whereas small scales are modeled. The accuracy of LES cases largely depends on the accuracy of the subgrid scale model used in the simulation. To overcome the specification of a model constant (as in Smagorinsky`s eddy viscosity model), dynamic models have evolved.
