Abstract Aqueous metal‐sulfur‐based batteries (AMSBs) with conversion mechanisms have emerged as a focal point in the energy storage domain attributed to their high energy densities and intrinsic safety attributes. Despite notable advancements in research, the comprehensive systematic summary of the progress in electrodes and electrolytes remains insufficient. Therefore, this review systematically summarizes latest research progress in cathodes, anodes, and electrolytes of various AMSBs, such as aqueous zinc‐sulfur (Zn‐S) batteries, aqueous copper‐sulfur (Cu‐S) batteries, aqueous lithium‐sulfur (Li‐S) batteries, aqueous aluminum‐sulfur (Al‐S) batteries, aqueous iron‐sulfur (Fe‐S) batteries, and aqueous calcium‐sulfur (Ca‐S) batteries. In addition, this review anticipates the future development prospects of AMSBs with conversion mechanisms and proposes some innovative strategies. This review aims to provide scientific guidance for the further challenges and development directions of AMSBs.
